We are in an Economic Crisis. Everyone is affected by this. More and more Filipinos are losing their jobs because of this as more companies are closing down.
I am a contact center agent. My salary is relatively higher than most regular jobs but then, having three children where two are in school and one is on the way (wife is 7 months pregnant), my salary is not enough. I have to think of something.
My line of work is into customer service. My work depends on how well I satisfy customers who are so hard to please. I go beyond the policy of the company just to please customers but every effort seems to be not enough. In this regard, my work becomes so hard to manage that I am getting in the brink of getting terminated because of low performance grade. Once upon a time, you are only graded by your work quality and quantity. Now, these criteria are just things of the past. You are now graded according to how well you satisfy your customers. Now, how do you satisfy customers? The only thing customers like is to save money, get a refund, a discount. These are in contrast with what the company wants which is to earn more.
I know the company I work for can do something about this which is to balance the way they rate employee's performance. However, just to show who is on top and who is more powerful, employee's grievances are not heard. I guess there is nothing left to do now but to be on your own.
There are so many job opportunities out there that do not require being employed or being tied up with a company. One is to work at home and be a freelance worker. More and more work-at-home schemes are being offered and hopefully this will prosper. The internet is basic tool to get started.
